In 2024-2025, new Russian EP3D electric trains will start running on the lines of the Tashkent agglomeration. The first train already started operating on December 3, 2024, and five more electric trains will arrive in Uzbekistan during 2025.
This will be the first purchase of new Russian railway equipment by the Central Asian republic, which previously planned to purchase up to 30 electric trains of Czech production from Skoda Group.
The EP3D electric train is a serial AC train that has been produced at the Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant since 2016. The design speed of the locomotive is 120 km/h, the passenger capacity is 1154 people, of which 586 seats are for sitting. The new electric trains are equipped with climate control, Wi-Fi, equipment for people with limited mobility and bicycle racks.
At the end of 2024, more than 120 EP3D electric trains were produced. Models in a 6-car configuration have already appeared on the railways of Kazakhstan.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Railways showed the interior of a high-speed train.
