Errors Detected in Air Quality Sensor Operation

Incorrect Installation Distorts Environmental Picture in Uzbekistan

Uzhydromet reported a growing discrepancy between the readings of its automatic stations and the data from private sensors installed by entrepreneurs, companies, and residents. Due to complaints and anomalous values, specialists began visiting locations with a mobile station for comparative measurements to verify the correct operation of the equipment.

The inspections revealed a systemic problem: most private sensors are installed in violation of technical requirements, which leads to serious data distortions. This prevents the formation of an objective view of air quality both in individual areas and across the country. Owners have already been issued recommendations for adjusting the installation, as incorrectly located sensors give overestimated or underestimated readings and disrupt overall statistics.

The agency reminded that state monitoring is carried out on HORIBA equipment — a recognized global manufacturer with half a century of experience in the field of emission analysis. These devices are certified according to US EPA, EN, JIS, and ISO standards, ensure high accuracy, and are equipped with automatic calibration.
