Pharmacies in Uzbekistan to switch to mandatory e-prescriptions

The system will start operating in pilot regions and become nationwide by 2026

From December 10, 2025, pharmacies in Tashkent and 15 pilot districts are required to connect to the "Electronic Prescription" module and transmit data on the sale of prescription drugs in real time. This requirement is stipulated by the Cabinet of Ministers resolution of September 8, 2025, which updated the licensing passport for the retail sale of medicines and medical devices.

The new system should cover the entire country by the end of 2026. After its implementation, the registration and dispensing of a number of medicines will only be possible with a prescription that the doctor enters into the electronic database. Thus, the state is strengthening control over the circulation of medicines in order to avoid illegal sales and reduce the risks of self-medication.

Pharmacists are reminded that dispensing prescription drugs without a prescription remains a violation of the law. Citizens are advised to contact pharmacies exclusively with an electronic prescription issued by a doctor, which should make the system more transparent and improve the safety of drug use.
