The official ceremony of sending the first batch of Hyundai Rotem high-speed trains, manufactured for Uzbekistan, took place in the South Korean port of Masan, Changwon. The event was attended by a delegation from Uzbekistan, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, representatives of the South Korean government and the management of Hyundai Rotem.
The new trains were named "Jaloliddin Manguberdi" and will start running in 2026 on the Tashkent — Urgench — Khiva route. After launch, the journey of almost 1000 km will take about 7 hours, which should significantly change the transport accessibility of the regions and passenger traffic within the country.
The production of the trains is carried out under a contract with Uzbek Railways, signed in June 2024. The sent trains became the first part of the new fleet of high-speed rolling stock, while in the future Uzbekistan plans to purchase five more similar trains. The project is seen as an important step in the development of bilateral cooperation and the digitalization of the railway system.
