Tashkent Launches 100 MW Heat Supply Center

New cogeneration plant will provide heat to the capital's districts and save millions of cubic meters of gas

A major heat supply center based on a modern cogeneration plant has been commissioned in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the facility. The 100 MW project was implemented on the territory of thermal power plant No. 4 in the format of a public-private partnership and is aimed at ensuring a stable supply of thermal energy to the capital during the winter period.

The project occupied 3.5 hectares and was implemented jointly with the Chinese company CNTIC at the expense of $65 million of direct foreign investment. The station is equipped with 70 Rolls-Royce gas piston units, and the heat supply infrastructure has been completely modernized — from boiler houses to end consumers. The renovation of heating mains and the replacement of networks with insulated pipes have significantly reduced energy losses.

Annually, the center will generate 876 million kWh of electricity and 858 thousand gigacalories of heat, saving about 35 million cubic meters of natural gas. 1846 facilities in five districts of Tashkent will be provided with constant heat supply, including 1400 residential buildings, and 292 thousand households will receive a stable electricity supply. The cost of heat will decrease by 40–45%, while the level of emissions into the atmosphere will noticeably decrease. The President also gave instructions on preparing the city for the autumn-winter season and emphasized the key role of management companies in ensuring the comfort of residents.
