Uzbekistan is preparing for its own space debut: the country intends to launch an artificial satellite and send the first citizen of the republic into space. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking with his annual message to parliament and the people. The head of state stressed that work in these areas is already in an active phase.
In parallel, Uzbekistan is implementing a space program in partnership with China. Together, they are developing the Samarkand-2028 Earth remote sensing satellite, which will receive a built-in artificial intelligence module. It is expected that the device will be used for data analysis in areas such as agriculture, ecology, economics and natural resource management.
An additional event for the country's space industry will be 2028, when Uzbekistan will be the first in Central Asia to host the International Astronautical Congress. Samarkand was chosen as the venue for the forum, which will bring together leading experts and representatives of the global space industry. This should strengthen the republic's position on the international scientific and technological map.
