On Sunday, January 4, an international specialized freight train departed from Wuwei City, Gansu Province in northwestern China, bound for Uzbekistan. The train, consisting of 47 wagons, carries 1,300 tons of high-quality coking coal worth 4.06 million yuan (approximately 580,000 US dollars) and is heading to Ablyk railway station. This is the first special train from Gansu in 2026 dedicated to international trade.
The train will pass through the Khorgos checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and is expected to arrive in Uzbekistan in approximately nine days. Representatives from the Wuwei Free Trade Logistics Center noted that the new routes allow for the formation of stable logistics channels for the export of Chinese products to Central Asian and Central European countries.
The development of the international logistics network already covers 22 countries and 46 cities, transforming Gansu's geographical advantages into a strategic resource for foreign trade. The new special train strengthens the province's position in the regional logistics market and ensures a more efficient entry of "Made in Gansu" goods into foreign markets.
