Electricity Production in Uzbekistan Breaks Records - Solar and Wind Generation Doubles

The country's energy sector reaches a new level: more clean energy and fewer emissions

In 2025, electricity production in Uzbekistan increased by 6%, and the amount of energy generated by solar and wind power plants doubled, exceeding 10.5 billion kWh for the first time. "Green" generation, including hydropower, reached 16.8 billion kWh, which is 29% more than last year. Thanks to this, the country saved 3.2 billion cubic meters of gas, and emissions of pollutants decreased by 4.7 million tons.

During the year, 42 new projects with a total capacity of 4,647 MW were launched: 5 solar and 4 wind power plants, 10 battery storage systems, 1 thermal power plant, and 2 cogeneration units. At the same time, the construction of 21 facilities with a total capacity of 3,508 MW is ongoing, including substations and more than 2,000 km of new power grids.

Thousands of kilometers of main and distribution networks have been overhauled, transformers and substations have been updated, which has improved the power supply to more than 800,000 households in 954 mahallas. As part of the energy efficiency program, 2.7 billion kWh of electricity and 2 billion cubic meters of gas were saved. The first closed-type substation based on trigeneration for heating, cooling, and energy saving is being built in New Tashkent.
