Uzbekistan becomes CIS leader in connecting schools to the Internet within GIGA

The country has ensured almost complete coverage of schools and has become one of the world leaders in the speed of project implementation

Uzbekistan is actively implementing the international GIGA initiative with the participation of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, UNICEF and the Ministry of Education. The project aims to connect every school to the Internet and create equal digital educational opportunities. By 2021, 10,098 schools were connected to the Internet, and to date, coverage exceeds 10,400 institutions, making Uzbekistan the first CIS country with full online school monitoring.

As part of the initiative, a unified online monitoring system with an interactive map has been introduced, allowing tracking the location of schools, data on the speed and stability of the connection, the number of students and teachers. International cooperation and participation in ICT WEEK 2025 allowed us to disseminate the country's experience and strengthen its position on the global stage.

In the future, the project is planned to be extended to hospitals, polyclinics and cultural institutions, creating a sustainable digital infrastructure and forming a unified digital society. Uzbekistan demonstrates a systematic approach and efficiency, becoming an example for other countries in the implementation of GIGA.
