Law Enforcement Officers in Uzbekistan to Accept Oral Appeals via Tablets

The new procedure is designed to speed up the registration of applications and improve security

An innovative procedure for receiving oral appeals from citizens to internal affairs bodies using tablets is being introduced in Uzbekistan. The resolution, signed on January 5, stipulates that police officers will be able to record statements in real time, regardless of departmental affiliation and area of responsibility. The goal of the innovation is to speed up the response to offenses and minimize bureaucracy in the transfer of information between departments.

The system will become part of the strategy for the digitalization of state institutions and should be fully implemented by the end of 2026. Analysis of previous practice shows the effectiveness of such measures: after the introduction of a similar decree in January 2025, the crime rate in mahallas decreased by almost 1.5 times. The new initiative is aimed at deepening targeted prevention and increasing public confidence in law enforcement officers.

In addition to digital tools, the authorities have provided for material incentives for employees. Monthly bonuses will be received by at least 15 of the most effective employees and managers, which should create personal responsibility and motivation to maintain order in the areas.

Initially, tablets were introduced as part of the "Safe City" project since 2018 to check documents and draw up administrative protocols. The new procedure expands their functionality, allowing the use of technology for the full reception of oral statements, which makes the work of the police more efficient and convenient for citizens.
