Uzbekistan and Turkey Strengthen Cooperation in Education and Science

Strengthening the strategic partnership through new educational and scientific projects

On January 28, 2026, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Kungurotboy Sharipov, met with the Chairman of the Council of Higher Education of Turkey, Erol Ozvar. The sides discussed the development of Uzbek-Turkish cooperation in the field of higher education, science and innovation, noting its dynamic growth and the significance of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s upcoming visit to Turkey on January 29.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed existing cooperation agreements and memorandums, the results of educational forums held in 2022–2024, and the achievements of joint programs. Special attention was paid to the project of the International University of Turkic States, including the training of faculty members, the use of electronic educational resources, and the role of the Turkish side in launching the university.

In addition, the branch of the cultural center of the Yunus Emre Institute at the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature was discussed, aimed at strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties. Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to deepen educational and scientific cooperation, expand joint projects, and implement previously proposed initiatives.
