Digital Shield Against Slavery: Tashkent Discusses How Technology Helps Detect and Prevent Crimes

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and the OSCE are stepping up the fight against human trafficking

On February 13, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with the Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the OSCE, Kari Johnston. The visit took place as part of the seminar "Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in Uzbekistan Using Technology," which was held at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies.

The parties discussed regional and global trends in combating organized crime, including crimes related to the exploitation of migrants and sexual violence. Special emphasis was placed on the use of modern digital tools to identify, analyze and prevent such offenses.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation with the OSCE participating States and developing joint initiatives. The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that the introduction of information technologies is becoming one of the key areas in improving the effectiveness of the fight against human trafficking.
