BYD Yuan Up Production to be Established in Uzbekistan

Market potential - 25 thousand cars

Localized production of the BYD Yuan Up model will begin at the BYD plant in the Jizzakh region, according to Ulugbek Ruzikulov, Chairman of the Board of Uzavtosanoat, at a video conference with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This model is among the best-selling cars of the brand worldwide, and the estimated potential of the Uzbek market is about 25 thousand units. Chinese partners have already agreed to localize production.

In 2026, it is planned to introduce five new models in the domestic market, including the updated Damas, as well as localized versions of the Chevrolet Traverse, Chevrolet Captiva, and new KIA models. In 2025, more than 6.24 thousand BYD Yuan Up were sold in Uzbekistan, demonstrating a steady demand for electric vehicles and new models of the brand.

The joint venture BYD Uzbekistan Factory was established in September 2023 with the participation of Uzavtosanoat and the Ministry of Investment. The first mass-produced electric vehicle of the plant — BYD Song Plus DM-i Champion — was released in June 2024. The initial capacity of the plant is up to 50 thousand cars per year, with a focus on the domestic market and export to Central Asian countries. Further expansion is planned: the second stage — $300 million and production of up to 200 thousand cars per year, the third stage — $500 million and up to 500 thousand cars annually.
