Tashkent at Risk: Mass Violations at Electric Charging Stations Threaten Accidents

Talking about charging stations with a capacity of more than 20 kW

The Khokimiyat of Tashkent has revealed numerous violations in the connection of charging stations for electric vehicles with a capacity of over 20 kW. Inspections showed that a number of facilities were connected without the necessary technical specifications and approvals, in violation of fire safety standards, and some stations were illegally located on state lands. Among the violators were both large companies and individual business entities.

The city administration warns that unauthorized connections pose a threat to the city's infrastructure and the stability of energy supply. Overloading networks and transformers can cause short circuits, accidents, and fires, which will result in unplanned expenses from the city budget to eliminate the consequences.

Particular attention was paid to cases of connecting charging stations to transformers without taking into account the current load, power limits, and forecasts of consumption growth in residential buildings. The Khokimiyat called on the owners of electric charging stations to bring the operation of facilities into compliance with the law and strictly comply with all technical requirements.
