Tashkent's New Airport Promises to Be the Most Modern in Central Asia

The new airport is designed to serve up to 20 million passengers per year

On March 5, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reviewed the progress of the construction preparation for the new Tashkent International Airport. The meeting presented the project parameters, the results of survey work, and the stages of implementation. The new airport is designed to serve up to 20 million passengers per year, with the ability to perform up to 30 takeoffs and landings per hour, and accommodate up to 169 aircraft in the parking area.

The first phase of construction includes a passenger terminal with an area of 208.4 thousand square meters and two runways, each 4 km long. The project also includes the creation of modern infrastructure for comfortable and safe passenger service, as well as efficient cargo handling — up to 129 thousand tons per year.

The project is being implemented in the form of a public-private partnership with the participation of Vision Invest from Saudi Arabia, Sojitz Corporation from Japan, and Incheon International Airport Corporation from South Korea. The President instructed to carefully study the technical and economic aspects of construction so that the new airport meets international standards and ensures long-term stable operation.
