Uzbekistan Metro Breaks Records: Passenger Traffic Increased 2.3 Times Since 2000

The number of passengers transported is rapidly growing after decades of fluctuations

In 2025, the Uzbekistan Metro transported 286.8 million passengers, which is almost 2.3 times more than in 2000, when 125.7 million people used the metro. This data is published by the National Statistics Committee.

Over the past 25 years, passenger traffic has experienced significant fluctuations. After growth in the early 2000s and a subsequent drop to 52–65 million passengers in 2010–2016, the metro gradually regained its previous performance. The drop in 2020 to 38.8 million was due to the pandemic, after which rapid growth began.

In 2021, the figure was 101.8 million, in 2022 — 136.7 million, and in 2023 — 172 million passengers. In 2024, the metro transported 270.3 million people, and in 2025 this figure reached a record 286.8 million, confirming the sustainable growth and demand for urban transport.
