Mass shutdowns of electric vehicle charging stations in Tashkent: the city seeks a way out of the crisis

Electric vehicle charging stations in the capital are being shut down en masse

In Tashkent, more than a hundred fast charging stations for electric vehicles have been temporarily disconnected due to violations of regulations and the use of city land without participating in auctions. Deputy Khokim for Transport Abdurakhmon Bakhtiev called the situation a "lose-lose story for everyone," emphasizing that the measures were forced: some operators used cadastral numbers of neighboring objects, which led to distortion of information and underpayment of funds to the budget.

According to the official, the load on the power grid increases significantly in winter and summer, which also forces temporary shutdowns of stations. At the same time, the authorities do not plan to close the business completely: a working group has been created, which, together with companies, is looking for ways to legalize and optimize the operation of the charging infrastructure.

The Khokimiyat is studying international experience, consulting with the World Bank, and working on updating the regulations for the provision of land plots. More than 300 of the more than 1,300 stations have been inspected: 101 have been temporarily disconnected due to lack of documents, and 62 more do not have contracts with the energy sales company, which became the reason for the actions of the city administration.
