BYD's largest plant in Uzbekistan has announced ambitious plans: by 2030, the company plans to produce about ten new models of electric vehicles and hybrids.
As early as 2026, the plant intends to produce 40,000 cars, which is twice as much as last year. Azizbek Mukhitdinov, CEO of BYD Uzbekistan Factory, emphasized that the rapid transition to a full production cycle of one model in a year is a record for the region, and Chinese partners are actively helping with technological support and standardization of processes.
At the first stage, the company has already launched the production of the Yuan Up electric crossover: after certification with three stars, the plant began production, and by the end of the year it is planned to fully master the entire cycle. For comparison, in 2024, only 368 Yuan Ups were sold in Uzbekistan, in 2025 – 6.8 thousand, and the production of 25 thousand cars is planned for 2026.
By 2030, the plant's capacity will increase to 200,000 electric vehicles and hybrids per year. To do this, about $200 million of investments will be attracted and about 10,000 jobs will be created in the Jizzakh region. The BYD Uzbekistan Factory joint venture was opened in September 2023 under an agreement with Uzavtosanoat, and production started in the summer of 2024. Already in 2025, production increased fivefold – to 20.2 thousand cars.
