The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed its readiness to assist Uzbekistan in developing a Strategic Roadmap and a National Strategy for the development of nuclear medicine. In a letter received by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Vienna, it was noted that a comprehensive approach to the development of the industry will strengthen the healthcare system, expand access to cancer care and introduce modern medical technologies.
IAEA support will be provided within the framework of existing technical cooperation programs and the Joint Action Plan for 2025–2027. The agency is ready to provide expert and advisory support, while adhering to international safety standards and best practices.
Particular attention is paid to the prospects of cooperation in radiotherapy, radiology, radiopharmacy and the overall development of nuclear medicine. The agency expressed interest in continuing close cooperation with Uzbekistan to improve the level of national medical infrastructure and introduce innovative technologies.
