Uzbekistan ranked 86th in the global Index of Economic Freedom, prepared by The Heritage Foundation, scoring 60.3 points and improving its result by 2.3 points compared to last year. Thanks to this, the country entered the category of "moderately free" economies for the first time, exceeding the world average of 59.9 points.
The strongest positions were noted in the openness of the economy: the Trade Freedom index was 80.6 points, and Investment Freedom was 70.0 points, which is significantly higher than the world average. These indicators reflect the improvement of conditions for trade and investment inflow.
The rating increase coincided with the dynamics of key economic indicators. The country's foreign trade turnover increased from $63.5 billion in 2023 to $81.2 billion in 2025, exports grew from $24.9 billion to $33.8 billion. The volume of foreign investment and loans in fixed capital more than doubled, reaching 422.1 trillion soums, which confirms the strengthening of Uzbekistan's economic position in the international arena.
