The Bukhara region is discussing the launch of a large automotive production facility with the participation of China's Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology. Negotiations took place between the khokim of the region and the company's delegation, where they discussed the phased assembly and further development of a full-fledged auto cluster. The project is based on a previously presented initiative at the level of the country's leadership and is considered one of the key industrial drivers of the region.
The development plan looks ambitious: starting with 20,000 cars in 2026 and gradually increasing to 200,000 cars by 2031. In parallel, the localization of component production is planned — from body elements and glass to batteries, electronics, and wiring harnesses. The lineup includes models B10, B10L, A10, C01, and C16, as well as the formation of a supply chain within the country.
The project should turn Bukhara into an automotive and logistics center of the region with access to export markets. At the start, about 200 jobs are planned, and by 2031 — up to 3,000. A separate emphasis is placed on training personnel through cooperation with technical universities and engineering schools in Uzbekistan.
