Visa launches infrastructure for AI commerce: digital agents will be able to make purchases

The new platform will combine payments, security, and integration with AI systems

Visa has introduced the Intelligent Commerce Connect solution, which is intended to advance commerce involving artificial intelligence. The technology was presented on April 20, 2026, in Almaty.

The new system is a universal infrastructure that allows businesses and developers to connect to so-called agentic commerce. Within this framework, AI agents will be able to independently perform actions on behalf of users, including selecting and paying for goods through Visa's payment ecosystem.

The platform integrates through the Visa Acceptance Platform and provides tokenization, authentication, and transaction control in a single interface. Various agentic protocols and security standards, including PCI, are also supported. This allows merchants to connect product catalogs to AI systems and enable users to make purchases directly within digital interfaces.
