Tashkent - Samarkand High-Speed Railway Enters New Phase

Feasibility study for the project prepared with South Korean support

Uzbekistan has presented the final feasibility study for the construction of a separate high-speed railway between Tashkent and Samarkand. The document marks an important step towards the implementation of a project that should accelerate the development of the country's transport infrastructure.

Work on the feasibility study began in February 2025 and was financed by a $3 million grant from the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of Korea. The development was carried out by a consortium of South Korean companies, including Saman Engineering, Korea Railroad Corporation, and Korea National Railway.

The presented report lays the foundation for further progress on the project. The new high-speed line is expected to improve transport connectivity between the country's largest cities and become an important element in the modernization of Uzbekistan's railway network.
