Solar energy brings income: Uzbekistan paid almost 74 billion soums in subsidies

Tens of thousands of households earn money by selling electricity to the common grid

In Uzbekistan, the public's participation in generating "green" energy continues to grow. In the first quarter of 2026, 45.2 thousand individuals received subsidies for electricity generated by solar panels and fed into the grid. The total amount of payments reached 73.982 billion soums.

The largest payments were recorded in Bukhara region – 16.5 billion soums. This is followed by Khorezm region with 13.3 billion and Kashkadarya region with 9.1 billion soums. The program stimulates the installation of home solar power plants and connection to the common energy system.

The mechanism operates within the framework of the "Solar House" initiative, launched in April 2023. For each kilowatt-hour of electricity transmitted in excess of own consumption, the state pays 1000 soums. Funds can be withdrawn to a bank card through the Soliq application. The program aims to develop renewable energy and expand public participation in electricity production.
