Uzbekistan Completely Halts Gold Exports

The country has not sold the precious metal abroad for six months, despite high prices

Uzbekistan completely ceased gold exports in the first quarter of 2026. According to the National Statistics Committee, no shipments of the precious metal abroad were made in January–March, whereas a year earlier, the export volume reached $3.57 billion.

In fact, gold exports have not been conducted for six consecutive months—the pause began in October 2025 and continues, despite favorable price conditions in the global market. This decision stands out given the traditionally high role of gold in the country's export structure.

Meanwhile, the republic's foreign trade turnover for the first quarter amounted to $18 billion, an increase of 2.7% compared to last year. This growth was driven by other export categories and import operations, but the absence of gold became one of the most notable factors in the period's statistics.
