In the first quarter of 2026, Uzbekistan generated 22.93 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, which is 4.7% more than in the same period last year. Large energy enterprises reduced generation volumes to 15.88 billion kWh compared to 17.17 billion kWh in the first quarter of 2025 and 20.1 billion kWh in 2024. At the same time, small businesses significantly increased production – up to 7.05 billion kWh compared to 4.73 billion kWh a year earlier, showing an increase of almost 49%.
In the thermal energy segment, the opposite trend is observed. Large enterprises increased generation by 20.5%. From January to March 2026, 6,561.2 thousand gigacalories of thermal energy were produced compared to 5,445.3 thousand gigacalories in the first quarter of 2025.
Thus, the overall growth in the electric power industry is mainly due to small businesses, while large producers continue to reduce generation. Data from the National Statistics Committee reflect structural changes in the republic's energy sector.
