In the first quarter of 2026, 15,124 foreign citizens arrived in Uzbekistan for study purposes. Compared to the same period last year, the number of foreign students increased by 8.5 thousand people, or 2.3 times, according to the National Statistics Committee.
Most students came from Turkmenistan — 7,174 people. India ranked second (2,835 people), and Tajikistan third (1,170 people). A significant number of students also represent China (641), Kyrgyzstan (483), Pakistan (438), Egypt (353), South Korea (342), the Philippines (286), and the USA (191).
The increase in the number of foreign students reflects the growing attractiveness of Uzbek higher education at regional and international levels.
