"Green" Energy Soars in Uzbekistan: Solar and Wind Stations Break Records

Increased generation saved almost 1 billion cubic meters of gas and reduced emissions

In Uzbekistan, from January to April 2026, electricity generation from renewable sources increased by 32% compared to last year. According to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the total generation from solar and wind power plants reached 3.421 billion kWh, which is 794.4 million kWh more than a year earlier.

Solar power plants made the main contribution – 1.877 billion kWh, while wind power added another 1.544 billion kWh. For comparison, during the same period in 2025, the total volume was 2.626 billion kWh, which highlights the accelerated development of "green" energy in the country.

The increase in generation allowed for a reduction in natural gas consumption by 912 million cubic meters and a decrease in harmful emissions. The current volume of "green" energy is comparable to the three-month electricity consumption of approximately 4 million households, which reflects the significance of renewable sources in the country's energy balance.
