Kaiyi turns factory into a "robot city": how cars for Uzbekistan are assembled in Yibin

Full automation, 314 robots, and production of up to 800,000 cars per year

One of Kaiyi Auto's most technologically advanced car factories operates in the Chinese city of Yibin, from where cars have been supplied to Uzbekistan since 2026. The production complex, covering an area of about 1.48 million m², is an almost fully automated system where key operations are performed by industrial robots, and people are mainly engaged in monitoring and analyzing processes.

Hundreds of robotic systems are involved in the enterprise: more than 300 robots work in the welding shop alone, and the total number of autonomous transport modules reaches 114 units. Robots perform stamping, welding, painting, and moving parts between sections, ensuring high precision and production stability. The factory produces up to 350,000 cars per year with the prospect of increasing capacity to 800,000 units by 2030.

Special attention is paid to quality and production speed. For example, the stamping line can switch between models in less than 3 minutes, and welding processes include more than 4,000 points per body depending on the model. Robotic coating application with an accuracy of up to 0.1 mm is used in the paint shops, which affects the durability and appearance of cars.
