The Asian Development Bank has signed a new cooperation program with Uzbekistan worth $12 billion. The agreement was formalized during the Samarkand Summit and provides for the implementation of 78 projects aimed at developing infrastructure and improving the quality of life for the population.
One of the key areas will be energy. The program plans to introduce over 2000 MW of new capacity in the green energy sector, as well as modernize more than 1000 km of electricity grids. This is expected to ensure stable energy supply for over 4 million people.
A significant portion of the funding – approximately $2 billion – will be directed towards social infrastructure, including the construction of new schools and medical facilities. The Uzbek authorities view expanding cooperation with international financial institutions as a key tool for accelerating the country's economic growth and modernization.
