Car Imports to Uzbekistan Grew by 137%: Electric Vehicles Became the Main Market Driver

The sharp increase in deliveries is due to the EV boom and consumers' shift to hybrid technologies

Passenger car imports to Uzbekistan showed a sharp increase: the total value of deliveries increased by 137% year-on-year, reaching $508.3 million compared to $214 million a year earlier.

According to the State Customs Committee, the main factor behind this surge was the rapid growth in demand for electric and hybrid vehicles.

The fully electric vehicle segment became the key market driver. Over the year, their imports grew from 5,863 to 23,079 units, and the value of deliveries increased from $88.5 million to $309.3 million. As a result, the share of electric vehicles in the import structure reached about 61%, solidifying their position as the dominant segment.

The hybrid car market is also growing rapidly: their deliveries increased from 329 to 2,829 units, and their value almost tenfold, to $81.7 million.

At the same time, traditional gasoline cars remained at the same volume level and effectively lost market share, reducing it to 23%. This reflects the accelerated transformation of the country's automotive market towards electric and hybrid technologies.
