Escrow Account Transactions in Uzbekistan Soar: Market Shifts Towards "Secure Payments"

The mechanism is gradually becoming the standard for real estate and vehicle transactions

Uzbekistan has seen a significant increase in the use of escrow accounts for property purchase and sale transactions. From April 1 to May 7, 2026, 40,767 operations were conducted through this mechanism, according to the Central Bank of the country. This includes both real estate and vehicles.

More than half of the transactions involved vehicles – 23,804 operations, while 16,963 transactions were related to real estate. The highest activity was observed in Tashkent, where 11,679 operations were registered. Fergana and Samarkand regions followed with 3,940 and 3,614 transactions, respectively.

The regulator notes that the escrow model provides more transparent and secure settlements between buyer and seller, reducing the risk of fraud and increasing market confidence. Amidst the growing number of such operations, the mechanism is gradually becoming established as a standard tool for large transactions in the country.
