Representatives of government agencies, telecom companies, and technology businesses gathered at GSMA M360 Eurasia 2026, which began in Samarkand. The main focus is on the development of mobile communications, digital infrastructure, and the implementation of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, in Eurasian countries.
According to the Mobile Economy Eurasia 2026 report presented at the forum, the mobile ecosystem has already brought about $270 billion to the region and accounts for over 8% of its GDP. By 2030, this figure could exceed $300 billion, and the share of 5G connections in Eurasia will approach 30%. The persistent digital divide related to service accessibility and users' digital skills is separately emphasized.
The event also features Pitch Day: Uzbekistan and the Green and Digital Solutions hackathon, aimed at supporting startups and sustainable digital solutions. The organizers note that the mobile industry already provides employment for hundreds of thousands of specialists in the region and continues to grow faster than the overall GDP, becoming one of the key drivers of digital transformation.
