Uzbekistan has announced plans to transform the country into a key IT center in Central Asia through the development of infrastructure, digital services, and artificial intelligence technologies. This was stated by Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov during his speech at the M360 Eurasia 2026 forum in Samarkand.
According to him, the state is creating favorable conditions for technological businesses, including tax incentives and simplified regulation. Uzbekistan also ranks 9th in the World Bank's GovTech Maturity Index, reflecting progress in the digitalization of public services and administrative processes.
Personnel training is becoming a separate focus: more than 1 million specialists have already been trained under the "Five Million AI Leaders" program. The authorities expect that the development of human capital, combined with reforms and investments, will allow the country to strengthen its position as a regional center for IT and innovation.
