Uzbekistan Prepares for Major Aviation Update: ICAO Leadership Arrives in Tashkent

Flight safety, industry modernization, and aviation personnel training are at the center of discussions

On May 25, a round table will be held in Tashkent with the participation of ICAO and leaders of Uzbekistan's aviation industry. The key guest of the event will be Nicolas Rallo, Regional Director of the ICAO European and North Atlantic Office. The meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent hotel.

The main topic of negotiations will be the implementation of the state program COSPA for 2024–2026, developed jointly with ICAO. The document provides for the modernization of the country's civil aviation, the introduction of international standards, and an increase in flight safety. Participants will discuss measures already implemented and identify further areas of cooperation.

Particular attention is planned to be paid to the development of safety control systems, investigation of aviation incidents, implementation of SMS and QMS standards, as well as training of industry specialists. In addition, the parties will discuss holding a meeting of the COSPA strategic oversight board, which will take place on May 26–27 in Bukhara. The authorities expect that cooperation with ICAO will help strengthen Uzbekistan's position as one of the aviation centers in the region.
