Negotiations are ongoing in Uzbekistan with design and contracting organizations for the construction of the new international airport "New Tashkent". The project was presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev as part of discussions on transport infrastructure and is considered one of the key elements in the development of the country's aviation industry.
According to plans, the airport will be able to serve up to 20 million passengers annually. It will include a terminal with an area of 208.4 thousand square meters, 169 aircraft stands, and two runways, each 4 km long. Site preparation is already underway, including the relocation of utility networks and the conduct of environmental and social assessments of the project.
In parallel, the modernization of aviation infrastructure continues throughout the country: seven regional airports are being reconstructed, and new air hubs are being developed. Special attention is paid to Navoi Airport, which is planned to be transformed into a major logistics and transit center with an increase in passenger and cargo traffic and the creation of a "porto-franco" free economic zone.
