Fergana Region of Uzbekistan and Japan's Tochigi Prefecture have agreed to develop long-term cooperation covering investments, industry, and innovative technologies. The decision was reached following negotiations between the Hokim of Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, and the Governor of Tochigi, Tomikazu Fukuda, during the Uzbek delegation's visit to Japan.
The parties discussed expanding economic ties, joint investment projects, and exchanging experience in key sectors. The Japanese side positively assessed the results of the business forum and expressed interest in the reforms in Fergana Region, as well as in the conditions for foreign investors and the development of industrial zones.
Future cooperation areas include automotive manufacturing, the agricultural sector, tourism, education, and digitalization, including "smart" city concepts. Following the meeting, a decision was made to establish working groups to prepare joint projects and strengthen a sustainable interregional partnership.
