Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with India's Minister of Heavy Industries, Hardanahalli Devegowda Kumaraswamy, on the sidelines of the fourth meeting of SCO Industry Ministers in Bishkek. During the talks, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation and the further development of joint projects.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation in geology, mining, critical mineral extraction, coal gasification, and nuclear energy. Opportunities for attracting Indian companies to develop deposits in Uzbekistan and create metal processing projects were also considered. Industrial cooperation between enterprises of the two countries was a separate topic.
The parties also discussed preparations for the 14th meeting of the Uzbekistan-India Intergovernmental Commission, which will take place on June 18 as part of the V Tashkent International Investment Forum. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to accelerate the implementation of joint initiatives. The growing interest of businesses is confirmed by economic indicators: in the first four months of 2026, trade turnover between the countries reached $406 million, the volume of attracted investments in the first quarter amounted to $300 million, and today 397 enterprises with Indian capital are operating in Uzbekistan.
