Negotiations were held in Tashkent between Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov and World Bank Vice President for Development Finance Akihiko Nishio. The main topic of the meeting was the expansion of cooperation within the programs of the International Development Association (IDA).
The parties discussed the implementation of current projects, their socio-economic effectiveness, as well as priority areas for further cooperation. Special attention was paid to programs aimed at developing infrastructure, education, healthcare, and creating jobs in the World Bank.
A separate block of negotiations focused on preparations for the IDA meeting, scheduled for December 2026 in Tashkent. The event is expected to become a major international platform for discussing sustainable development issues, combating poverty, and demonstrating the results of reforms in Uzbekistan with the support of international financial institutions.
