Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, held talks with representatives of the European Union, including the Head of the Central Asia and Afghanistan Division of the Directorate-General for International Partnerships. The meeting discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in digital transformation and the development of modern telecommunication services.
One of the key topics was the implementation of a project within the Global Gateway initiative, aimed at developing digital and telecommunication infrastructure in Central Asian countries. The parties paid special attention to issues of providing connectivity to remote regions of Uzbekistan and increasing the effectiveness of already implemented programs.
The participants of the negotiations also considered issues of satellite communication, digital infrastructure development, and regional integration. Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in further cooperation and coordination of financial and technical mechanisms to accelerate the implementation of modern digital services.
