President of Uzbekistan Visits Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in Namangan

New center combines research, startups, and applied AI developments for regional digitalization

Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the work of the new artificial intelligence research laboratory at Namangan State Technical University during his visit to the Namangan region of Uzbekistan. The center was established as part of the state program for regional digitalization and the introduction of IT technologies into key sectors of the economy.

The laboratory is designed as a comprehensive research platform, integrating data analysis, robotics, and bionics. Its structure includes specialized units for big data processing, multimedia AI laboratories, and a startup accelerator for commercializing developments.

Particular attention is paid to applied areas — environmental monitoring, agrotechnologies, "smart" transport, and automation of production processes. This approach allows testing solutions not only in an academic environment but also in real conditions of regional management.

During the visit, startup projects developed with the participation of AI specialists, already integrated into the system of local authorities, were presented. This emphasizes the transition from research to the practical application of digital solutions in management.

The President of Uzbekistan held a meeting with young developers and researchers, discussing the development of technological initiatives. Following the visit, the importance of scaling such centers as an element of personnel training and accelerating the digital transformation of regions was noted.
