On July 13, a new record for summer electricity consumption was registered in Uzbekistan. According to the Ministry of Energy, residents and enterprises of the country used 278.6 million kWh per day – this is 6 million kWh, or 2.2%, more than the previous maximum set in July last year.
Daily electricity generation amounted to 281.5 million kWh, which fully covered the current demand. The previous record was registered on July 18, 2025, when consumption reached 272.6 million kWh. In both cases, the reason was extremely high temperatures – up to +40 °C in central regions and up to +44 °C in desert areas.
The Ministry of Energy expects that due to the continuing heat, the load on the energy system may continue to grow. Energy enterprises have been put on an enhanced operating mode, and emergency crews are on round-the-clock duty throughout the country.
The department also warned that temporary power outages are possible in some areas due to technical equipment malfunctions, and urged residents to use electricity sparingly, especially during peak load hours. At the same time, one of the main problems of the energy system remains the high wear and tear of distribution networks.
