Uzbekistan and Alibaba Cloud are expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and specialist training. Negotiations took place in Shanghai as part of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), where Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with the leadership of the Chinese company.
Representatives of Alibaba Cloud spoke about their developments in AI, modern language models, cloud infrastructure, and experience in implementing artificial intelligence in various industries. The company noted Uzbekistan's high potential due to the development of the digital economy and the availability of qualified specialists.
Sherzod Shermatov stated that more and more Uzbek companies are using open models and technologies from Alibaba Cloud. According to him, the country is interested in expanding practical cooperation, training personnel, and developing infrastructure for working with artificial intelligence.
The parties discussed creating conditions for the development of data centers in Uzbekistan, including the use of infrastructure based on renewable energy sources, as well as the implementation of AI platforms for business and government sectors.
Special attention was paid to training UZINFOCOM and UNICON-SOFT engineering teams in cooperation with Alibaba Cloud. Specialists should acquire skills in creating AI-based solutions for healthcare, education, and other economic sectors.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop joint projects under the coordination of the Artificial Intelligence Development Center and present the first results of cooperation at the ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026 forum in September.
