Uzbekistan's Economy Accelerates

Tashkent aims for 9-10% annual growth by increasing investments, exports, and production indicators

Uzbekistan's economy grew by 8.5% in the first half of 2026, showing a significant acceleration in key areas. These figures were announced at a video conference chaired by the country's president, dedicated to socio-economic results and tasks for the second half of the year.

The services sector showed the highest growth rates — 16.9%. Industrial production increased by 8%, construction by 13.8%, and agriculture grew by 4.7%.

In the first six months, the volume of investments in the economy reached $28 billion, and the country's exports amounted to $14.4 billion. An additional signal for international markets was the upgrade of Uzbekistan's sovereign credit rating by Fitch and Moody's agencies.

At the same time, the country's leadership considers the achieved indicators only an intermediate result. The President noted that to further improve the living standards of the population, which has already reached 40 million people, stable economic growth at 9–10% must be ensured.

He demanded that regional and industry leaders not just report on work done, but seek new internal resources, create effective development mechanisms, and prepare additional action scenarios taking into account changes in the global economy.
