Tashkent authorities have allocated 5.128 billion soums from the city's Development Fund for the modernization of low-voltage power transmission lines. The corresponding decision was signed by the city's hokim, Shavkat Umurzakov. The funds will be received by "Tashkent City Power Grids" company, which will update the city's distribution infrastructure as part of a program approved by the decree of the President of Uzbekistan.
The financing aims to improve the reliability of the capital's power supply. The need for modernization is due to the rapid growth of electricity consumption and the increasing load on existing networks. Earlier, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that accidents at substations and transformer points regularly occur in the country, and the development of power grid infrastructure lags behind the growth in demand.
According to authorities, electricity consumption in certain districts of Tashkent and other regions has more than doubled over the past five years. Following the meeting, personnel decisions were made in the energy sector, and tasks were set to develop a targeted network development program, create a Digitalization Center for the Fuel and Energy Complex, and implement artificial intelligence technologies for data analysis, monitoring electricity and gas consumption, and identifying possible violations.
