Aksa Elektrik won an international tender to manage the electricity distribution networks of the Samarkand region. This is the first time in Uzbekistan that such infrastructure has been transferred to a private investor with the obligation to invest its own funds in its development and modernization.
Aksa Elektrik CEO Alper Erbaş called the project an important milestone for the company and noted that the Turkish group has been involved in Uzbekistan's energy sector for several years. Since 2020, its power plants in Tashkent, Bukhara, and Talimarjan, with a total capacity of 1220 MW, have been supplying electricity to the population and enterprises.
Now Aksa Elektrik intends to focus on the distribution infrastructure of the Samarkand region. The company plans to use its own technologies and experience to modernize networks, increase their reliability, and reduce electricity losses.
According to Erbaş, the efficiency of the energy sector today is determined not only by generation volumes but also by the ability to save resources and reduce losses. The company believes that the digitalization of accounting and the installation of modern meters in homes will become important elements for the further development of Uzbekistan's energy supply system.
