Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the establishment of the Institute of Cryptology, Information Security, and Innovative Technologies based on the Center for Radio-Electronic Systems and Information Technologies at the Muhammad al-Khwarizmi Tashkent University of Information Technologies. The main areas of work will be the training and professional development of specialists in cryptology, information protection, and cybersecurity.
The Institute will also train personnel in artificial intelligence, big data, and digital forensics, engage in scientific and applied development, and participate in the creation of national standards and regulatory documents. In agreement with authorized bodies, the institution will be able to develop, produce, sell, and certify cryptographic and technical information protection tools.
In addition, the institute's specialists will have the right to conduct expert examinations of information systems of state organizations, including critical information infrastructure facilities, assess their security, and conduct certification. A Development Fund will be established at the institution, whose funds will be directed to scientific projects, equipment, training, and employee incentives. Employees will also have the opportunity to obtain a mortgage for housing in new buildings in the Tashkent region.
