The total cost of the integrated NPP project in Jizzakh region is estimated at $9.5 billion. Of this amount, about $1.9 billion, or 21%, accounts for domestic products and equipment. However, Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to increase localization to at least 30%, bring the share of national enterprises in construction and installation works to 65%, and attract about 7,000 local specialists to the project.
The active phase of construction began on June 4. To date, the excavation for the reactor pit has been completed – over 1 million cubic meters of soil have been removed, and 916 cubic meters of concrete have already been poured into the foundation slab. 450 people and over 100 units of equipment are working on the site. The plant will require about 3,000 types of products and equipment. To expand production in Farish district, an industrial zone of 200 hectares is planned, where at least 100 joint ventures are intended to be located.
In addition to the NPP itself, the project includes large-scale infrastructure construction: 388 km of power grids, a 110 kV substation, 21 km of drinking water pipelines and 120 km of technical water supply, as well as 39.5 km of highways and 11 km of railways. Simultaneously, an atomic city of 200 hectares will appear with approximately 10,000 apartments for almost 33,000 residents. Schools, kindergartens, medical and sports facilities, and recreation areas will be built here. The authorities expect to provide 60–70% of domestic products and services for infrastructure facilities and simultaneously train specialists for the future plant.
