A new gas condensate field, Patron, has been discovered in the Mirishkor district of the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan. The first exploration well was connected to the gas pipeline and put into operation on September 2. Its initial production capacity is about 500 thousand cubic meters of natural gas per day. The drilling was preceded by 3D seismic surveys conducted in 2025 by the Chinese company BGP.
The well was drilled to a depth of over 3.3 km, and formation tests confirmed the presence of gas in commercial quantities. According to preliminary estimates, Patron is a small field with reserves of about 2.5 billion cubic meters. Currently, specialists from “O‘zLITIneftgaz” are conducting additional gas-dynamic and gas-condensate studies to clarify the actual production capabilities.
Separately, the Ministry of Energy denied reports of an alleged explosion. The circulated video shows open gas flaring during a standard exploration well test. This process is used to determine pressure, productivity, and other operating parameters. The facility was commissioned in compliance with industrial and fire safety requirements under the supervision of specialists and representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
