One of the first tower-type parking lots in Uzbekistan has been installed in the Kichkirik mahalla of Tashkent's Almazar district. The eight-story structure operates on the principle of an elevator: a central lift takes a car and automatically moves it to a free spot on the right or left side. Thanks to the vertical design, up to 16 cars can now be parked simultaneously in the area, whereas previously only a few cars could fit.
The parking lot became part of a large-scale improvement project in the mahalla, where 23 apartment buildings are located and over 5,400 people reside. As part of the state program "Obod Mahalla," 71.4 billion soums were allocated from the local budget for the renovation of the area. A 2.4 km long promenade along the Kichkirik canal was arranged, 12.4 km of pedestrian paths were laid, and green areas were expanded.
In addition to the parking lot, sports and leisure facilities appeared in the mahalla. For young people, 12 workout areas and three football fields were equipped, and libraries were opened. The facades of apartment buildings were also updated, benches and lighting were installed, and about 6.5 thousand ornamental and fruit trees were planted. During his visit to the mahalla, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions on employment and poverty reduction.
